She has been left charged with all the murders as he's run off! I just might do him next could be fun to draw.

School trip to China - WIP

This is a WIP for my daughter and her mates who have just come back from a school trip to Shanghai, ( in my day it was just to the Welsh coast!) It is to get the faces right and to set possitions of the heads, The end resault will hopefully have Chinese head dresses and refrences to their visit. Hopefully they will have it as a reminder of their fantastic adventure to the Far East.

I did this as my daughter Emily, she pleaded with me, she even gave me the 'eyes'. You know the ones, the ones that make you go into a trance and agree to anything!!.
This week I had a really nice surprise as I had an e-mail off an old school buddy that I hadn't seen nor heard from for over 38 years ( I was at junior school and leaving for secondary school aged 11!). I has been great to hear from him and it has led to getting in contact with another school friend from the same time. So there are going to be some embarrassing stories flying around. I might even share some of them on here, there again..........

This is the second attempt at this lady, this time I used sketch that I did when working on drawing her. I then used Photoshop CS5 (trial)as the program to See the difference between CS4 and CS5. Some of the tweaks are good in CS5, but Im not sure if they are worth upgrading too. No dought if I did decide to upgrade to CS5, by the the time I get it they (Adobe) with bring out another version CS6, with in weeks! I wish that they would leave new stuff alone for a few years at least !

This is my revenge on Jit, for his take on me.
This seamed to just flow and morph with ease, it makes a nice change for something to turn out as how you see it in your head, and then see it evolve and become what you see!
This one took me a while to do as I had to fit it in around other things, but it was really enjoyable to do.I thought that I would see what it looked like in black and white, I think it works well, if not slightly better, what do you think ?
I think I will do the black and white paintings first on the next picture for a change.

This is the sketch of a fellow Caricaturist, who lives and works in Ireland, he was one of my favorite artist when I first found out that there were others out there on the big wide web. He inspired me to try difrent styles and to find my own. Besides he hinted that hes thinking of drawing me so I thought Id get in first !
Im suprised that it has come out dry and not smudged and wet as while I was drawing away , I was also sneezing my head off and trying to keep ahead of a runny nose!
So all that is needed is for it to be finnished off, Id better get and do it I supose!

Here are two versions of a picture that Ive just finished of a mate who is in a band called the Rat Rods, who play locally, we are discussing the possibility of me drawing the whole band, so keep popping in to see the results.
Any way the second one was how it was meant to turn out, while the first one came about by a mistake while I was merging layers ( there was a goal and I merged the layers in the wrong order.....). Well it is the World cup and its the only time I ever watch Football! Anyways I kind of like the effect so much that Ive decided to post along side the original.

Sir Smith Child lived between 1808 and 1896, so he managed to get away with the report on MPs expenditures (that has shamed and horrified modern British MPs!) for probably squandering his allowances on fine wine and a 32 bed roomed mansion for his little imaginary friend Egbert!

But alas he didn't manage to get away from .......me !

This guy would be turning in his grave if the most infuetial person in the Stoke On Trent Pottery Industry, (yep there used to be one not so long ago, all gone due to cheaper imports and Foreign take overs!). This guy invented the Wedgewood Blue pottery, the stuff with the white faces and stuff on the side (every one has a bit of the stuff around these parts, a sort of badge of honour, you cant be a true potter if you aint got a piece!). From the vurtual hundreds of thousands who use to work in the Pottery industry, it is now down to the few thousand or so! Progress, yes I love it, from families working together in the same Pot bank, to the same family signing on the dole!...... and this was before this resesion hit us !!!!...................Rant over, on to the picture the father of the Pottries (Stoke On Trent, for the ones who were wondering!).....

computer woes

Went up to do some work on the computer and the dam thing has decided to have a dissy fit and not open up windows. Each time I try and start it it gets so far them suts down and then restarts. I have tried to open in safe mode which it did but then sulks and goes off again! Something about a DMboot.sys. being currupted. So it looks as if there will be no work on that and, its another trip to the computer doctor. Mind I was thinking of having the Hard drive scrubbed and widows XP re enstalled, so may be this will be the time to do it.! Happy times....
Thank goodness I have kept 99 %of my work on an exturnal HD, ha well back to pen and pencil for the weekend, lets see what I can come up with eh, keep watching................ .

I did this after spending the night sitting up with a painful shoulder. I had the idea for a few days, and decided to see if I could put it to screen. This only took about 3 hours, supper fast for me!

I decided to go for her natural look as she appeared on Celebrity Big Brother, I wonder if she thought that it was a remake of the zombie spoof of Big Brother, Dead Set, because she has come as a Zombie, same color, and just lies around a lot moaning!

I thought this time I'd put a scketch up before the finished pic for a change so you can see the before and the after. this was done tonight while watching BBC's new version of The Day Of The Trifids part 1 . So this sketch took about 30 mins ( the first hour was finding the refrence picture and then wondering first , what was this program about ??? and secondly how was I going to attack this picture!). She has such a wealth of things to put into this , but I have to be careful as not to go to far, a thing any caricaturist has to work out, if they are to keep the odd arm and dangly bits!

This was the first ever try at digital painting using Photoshop, it took me about 6 weeks, 5 weeks playing around with different effects , brushes and other bits and bobs connected with photoshop and one week madly rushing to do the actual work!.

I still end up playing around with things in Photoshop , never two pictures are done the same, not because of any secret ideas , its because I keep forgetting to remember to save things and forget how I did things .

So I never get bored as each picture is as if I have just started a new, so it always fun and exiting

This guy was the person who came to our rescue each time we got stuck with the computer, which was almost all the time!
